Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jennifer Henson

My name is Jennifer Henson, and I absolutely love teaching. I am married and have four children of my own: one at UT Austin, one in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary. I have my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and my master's degree in Special Education. My goal is to apply to get my doctorate's in Educational Psychology to be an LSSP. I have  my teaching certifications in EC-6 General Education and EC-12 Special Education.

I began my public education teaching career as a kindergarten teacher at a local, public charter school, The San Antonio  School for Inquiry and Creativity, for two years (2010 - 2012). I was required to become Montessori certified and to incorporate Montessori teaching strategies within my lessons. Apart from teaching the basics, I also incorporated a lot of art and multisensory activities into my lessons to help peak the children’s interests and make learning the material fun, creative, and dynamic.

In 2013, I was hired as a second grade teacher at Elolf Elementary within the Judson Independent School District. In 2015, I was hired as a special education teacher at Elolf. I was eager to learn the paperwork and to provide the needed services to my caseload. At Elolf, I was exposed to many different educational needs of students as well as work under amazing lead teachers that helped provide a good foundation to my introduction to teaching special education. In 2018, I became the lead special education teacher at Elolf. Throughout my career at Elolf, I had the opportunity to provide resource support, inclusion support, and co-teach support. My co-teach teacher and I were recognized by the district in 2018 - 2019 as an exemplary co-teach team, and in October of 2020, I was recognized by Judson ISD's Superintendent, Dr. Janette Ball, as the Judson employee of the month.

Currently, I am a special education teacher at Olympia Elementary. I am super excited to be a Unicorn, and I look forward to making a positive impact on our community and children.
