Summer Fine Arts Academy
The Judson ISO School Board and Superintendent, Dr. Jeanette Ball, have made an extraordinary commitment to enhance student Fine Arts education by funding a Summer Fine Arts Academy. There are offerings open to 100 JISD students currently in grades 4-11. We are dedicating our time, money and effort to facilitating the growth of the student artist through education and apprenticeship in their craft. By establishing a safe environment in which young actors, musicians, dancers, singers, visual artists and technicians can explore their creativity and hone their craft, we expect to see JISD students rise to even greater heights not only in their art but in their overall education. Research has shown that student's involvement in the fine arts correlates with improvement in attendance, classroom achievement, behavior and state testing results. The Academy will provide instruction in visual arts, dance, voice, acting, and technical theatre through rehearsal and performance experience.
This Summer Fine Arts Academy is offered free of charge. A free breakfast and lunch is also provided for all academy students.
Unfortunately, if a student does not pass to the next grade level or does not pass their required state tests, they will not be able to participate in the Fine Arts Academy. They will be required to take other summer school courses. We hope that all parents, teachers and students will make every effort to make sure students pass all their classes and state tests, so they can participate in the Fine Arts Academy.
