BexarFest (Media Club) is unique in the sense that we gain skills in media, but we also work with the community. The competition started to fulfill the need for experience for our high school students, and the need for media services that non-profit organizations could not afford. Every year, a school is paired with a new non-profit organization to bring them the help they need with promotional materials; a commercial, a poster, and photography, so the non-profit can use them at their disposal. In return, our projects are submitted and judged amongst all the entries and are awarded one night at the Tobin Center. Awards can range from categories such as "Best Photography," "Best Graphic Design, "Best Storytelling," "Best Editing" and more. The students typically feel rewarded for their efforts and the final outcome of the projects but also rewarded for helping our communities by serving and learning about the non-profits.
