• Technical Theatre students have the opportunities to hone designing, operational, and construction skills in: Scenic, Props, Costumes, Lighting, and Sound.

    Students are able to apply their skills to real productions and events.


    Students are able to learn things such as (but not limited to): sewing, patterning, scenic construction, prop building, lightboard and sound board operation.

  • UIL One-Act Play

    UIL One-Act Play is where Texas schools perform short plays to compete for advancement in the Zone, District, Bi-Distrct, Area, Region, and State levels. UIL offers opportunities for students to obtain TILF scholarships.

    Casting is pulled from our Productions class; students must be in good academic standing.

  • International Thespians Society: Texas Thespians Festival

    Productions and Tech 3 & 4 students will have the opportunity to compete in ITS; creating original design work focusing on artistic creativity found within the theatre workforce. Students can compete in such events as:
    Costume Design, Scene Design, MakeUp Design, Musical Duets, and Team Design challenges (just to name a few).

    Thespian scholarship opportunities are available to students.

  • Opportunities: Workshops, Guest Speakers, etc.

    VMHS Theatre strives to offer increasing opportunities to attend workshops, as well as bringing in guest speakers who are professionals in the entertainment industry.


    Past opportunities:

    In the summer of 2023, Ms. Gilmour ran an airbrush workshop featuring an Emmy award-winning special effects makeup artist.

    Some guest speakers throughout the school year included:

    Brianna Hill, a professional singer/actress known for her role as Mayor Goodway on the touring production of Paw Patrol Live! and the filmed special.

    Head Electrician and lighting expert Zach Alexander, who gave a presentation providing insight into the world of theatrical lighting and touring.
