Mr. Garcia's Biography

I am looking forward to a very exciting, education filled Third year here at Veterans Memorial High School!

I have been teaching English for eight years between three different districts. I answered my call to teaching after my years of education at Texas State University in San Marcos, Tx, and discussing the matter and profession with my high school English teacher. My track focused upon English, and I received my Bachelor of Arts focusing on English Literature. After graduating in 2011, I started my teaching career in Hays ISD at Lehman High school teaching English I. In 2014 after leaving Lehman, I moved to Austin and began teaching for Austin ISD at Reagan Early College High School teaching English I. 

During my teaching at John H. Reagan High School, I also assisted with the UIL academics team, and helped lead students to state in various activities such as Literary criticism and Spelling. I strive and push my students to achieve their best in class, but also to participate in other academic competitions, and stress, as a participant my self in High School, it can help students become well-rounded, and truly grasp the material. 

I look forward to spreading the love and appreciation of literature and writing to students during this school year!
