Mrs. Williams

Hello, Families!

My name is Mrs. Williams, and I'm happy to be teaching fourth grade this year at Olympia Elementary.  This is my fourteenth year as a classroom teacher, and I’ve had the pleasure of previously teaching 1st and 2nd grades.  Before that, I was a full-time substitute teacher.  It was a wonderful experience because I got to make friends with students of all ages from dozens of local schools.

Teaching is my second career.  Before I decided to become an educator, I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in journalism.  I then worked as a news reporter and editor for more than a decade.  I got to meet and interview many different people -- business owners, community leaders, artists, and more.  However, I eventually realized that the classroom was where I really belonged, so I earned a master's degree in elementary education, began working as a substitute, and found a job doing what I loved most: touching the lives of youngsters through teaching.

My goal is to make students feel welcome and to do my best to keep open lines of communication with you so that as a team, we can work toward your child’s success.  I look forward to experiencing amazing educational milestones with your child in my writing class this coming school year!
