Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Alvin Nelson III
Hello, and welcome to my website for Judson Middle School!!! I am honored to be teaching your child this 2019-2020 school year and look forward to getting to know each and every single one of them this school year. There definitely will be a few hurdles to jump but, overall I am extremely excited to see where this journey will take us over these next 10 academic months!
Let me provide give you a little about myself in order for you to truly understand where my passion comes and my certainty of reinsuring success with your son or daughter inside of my mathematics classroom. I am originally from the San Antonio/Converse area and graduated high school from one of Judsons' all time rivals, The Rough Riders-Theodore Roosevelt High School. Upon graduation, I furthered my education by attending the NUMBER ONE University in the state of Texas, Texas A&M University of College Station . While in attendance at A&M, I was honored to be a a member of the Fightin Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets (Company K-1) as well as, the privilege of pledging the debonair and suave gentlemen of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. I graduated with a Business Administrations Degree, specializing in Management Information Systems and entered into the Business sector in Austin, Texas.
Prior to teaching, I held the positions of an Engineering Recruiter, Corporate Trainer and Project Manager to name a few. With my exposure of the well diverse backgrounds of business, I am confident in knowing I do have an advantage of proper decorum, statue and overall professionalism when dealing with your son, daughter, and ultimately you as the parent.
With an offering of an optimal position in the Ventura/Oxnard area of California, I decided to take a leap of faith and move out west. While out there, I attended and obtained my Teaching Credentials and Masters in Secondary Mathematics at California State University- Channel Islands, in Camarillo, California. I was able to complete my student teaching and obtain my first teaching position at Rio Del Valle Middle School in Oxnard, California; teaching 8th Grade Mathematics and coaching Cross Country and Track for 4 years overall.
Ultimately, I knew and planned on my return back to Texas. I moved back to Austin, Texas in the summer of 2017. I obtained a 5th-Grade position at Lagos Elementary, of Manor Independent School District, after deciding a change from 8th grade may be nice. With family needs of me being more local than Austin, I moved back to San Antonio, this previous 2018-2019 school year. I was very fortunate to be welcomed on board at Judson Middle School to teach 8th Grade Mathematics again at the middle school level. Currently with entering my 7th year overall, with son/daughter in my class, I am certain now with traction coming off of last year, this will be my best year yet!
I look forward to meeting you all and hope you have an excellent year!
