The Teaching & Learning Department, led by Deputy Superintendent Rebecca Robinson, consists of multiple departments that collaborate to meet the needs of all the Judson ISD students and extended community. The Teaching and Learning Team consists of Advanced Academics, Career & Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, Dyslexia Service, Fine Arts, Guidance & Counseling, Post-Secondary Education, Section 504, and the Special Education Department.
All these Departments work in conjunction to provide the following services and supports:
- Instructional leadership support for principals and professional development and coaching for teaching staff to ensure the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices outlined in the district’s curriculum
- Ensure accessibility and equity to socially relevant, innovative, engaging, and technologically advanced academic curriculum
- Provide students with academic and technical skills to compete in the global workforce and prepare students for college and career success through the implementation of industry standards, certification programs, on-the-job training, partnerships with industry, and collaboration with institutions of higher learning and continuing education
- Design specialized instruction that is direct, explicit and systematic, multisensory and intensive in nature to help meet the needs of students with dyslexia
- Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for cognitive, creative, and social growth through a variety of Fine Arts offerings
- Provide all students with a comprehensive guidance and counseling program implementing standards-based school counseling that will promote student success ensuring that all students have the necessary academic, technical, college, career readiness, and social - emotional knowledge and skills for school and future success.
- Work closely with our college and university partners to provide useful and timely information about post-secondary opportunities, encourage students to prepare and enroll in subject college credit courses while in high school and increase college completion rates for our graduates
- Identify the strengths and challenges of students in need of specialized instruction and provide supports and services that will prepare each student to contribute and compete as a responsible individual, become as independent as possible as they move through their academic career, and to help each student with disabilities become employable, if possible, when they leave the educational setting.
The Department of Teaching & Learning is excited to bring about positive change in our school district that impacts ALL learners! Please contact us if you need any support! We look forward to this coming school year and seeing all the Judson ISD community gathered once again.
