District welcomes over 350 new teachers
From August 1 to August 5, Judson ISD welcomed over 350 new teachers to the district. The week kicked off on Monday with breakfast from Bill Millers while being welcomed to Wagner High School by the Wagner Band and Cheerleaders. Dr. Nicole Taguinod, Chief Communications Officer, emceed the welcome.
"We are thrilled that you have decided to join our family," Taguinod said.
She introduced Dr. Jeanette Ball, the Superintendent of Schools, who also shared her excitement about welcoming so many new teachers to our district.
"You had the choice to go anywhere else, but you decided to join Judson ISD and I am grateful for that and our students," Ball said.
Next, Taguinod introduced principals from all over the campus. Mr. Mendoza, Principal of Judson High School, and Mr. Silverman, Principal of Salinas Elementary, gave a few words of wisdom to the new teachers. Silverman told the story of a new teacher who started out as a paraprofessional, went back to get her degree and certification, and came back to teach at the campus.
Throughout the week, the teachers had fun team building with colleagues from their campus but also received professional development on technology, special populations, curriculum, and more, all to prepare them for the first day of school on August 17, 2022.
